Medellín · The long view

Sources & editorial standards

How we research Medellín history, check project updates, protect contributors and correct mistakes.

Our priority is faithful historical context, not sensational claims. Medellín's cartel era is important but not the whole story; modern progress matters but should not be used to erase present problems.

What we verify

Dates and public-works statuses should be traced to historical archives, primary documents, Metro de Medellín, municipal records or reputable historical scholarship. Statistics need named sources and clear time and geographic boundaries. Predictions must be marked as predictions.

Photography

Existing photographs are labeled by subject, not incorrectly presented as historical archival images. Future Then & Now comparisons will require credited archival originals, rights verification and a reasonably matched camera viewpoint.

Travel safety
